We are about to update our computing classroom to make it a bit more inspiring and one of the things Miss D is planning is a challenge board! Here is some of the tricky computing vocabulary our school are going to be learning to use...
Algorithm: A precise
step by step method for solving a problem.
Application: A self-contained program that has a specific use
(like an app on your phone).
Boolean logic: A system of reasoning using
true and false.
Browser: A piece of
software that enables you to use the world wide web. We normally use Google
Chrome as a browser at school.
Data Information which can be stored using a digital device,
for example an iPad.
Debug To find and change errors in computer code. If Candy
Crush stops working, it probably needs debugging.
E-safety: Understanding rules to keep yourself and others
safe online.
Function: A section of code that takes information and then
gives a result.
Hardware: Physical items of computing kit, for example a
printer.
Input - feeding data into a computer.
Internet - A network of computers all over the world sharing
information on the world wide web.
Network - different computers (or iPads, ipods, etc.)
connected and sharing information together.
Program/code - A sequence of instructions.
Software - Programs that help your computer to do new
things, for example Microsoft Paint.
Variable: A symbol in a piece of coding that can be changed.

Ps. If you find Miss D and are able to tell her the
meanings of all of these words, she will give you a super shiny sticker!
